Feeling the pressure in a 4* hotel?!

On the 6th of November, we went away on location for our fashion’s second pressure project. Compared to the first one, it went smoother and it was exactly as planned. Well, model wise not really but it went better!

This time, the weather was beautiful. What I mean by beautiful is, it was DRY! The location we chose was Crossbasket Castle, it is a four stars hotel located in East Kilbride. I thought it was the perfect choice as the gardens around about the hotel was stunning and it had shade for when the rain decided to show.

We went around every corner of the hotel to find a good spot to set the lights up. Then we thought, it wouldn’t do any harm to ask if there was any chance we could photograph inside the hotel. It was worth every shot. We were expecting a ‘no’ but it took us by surprise! They gave us a tour around the hotel and even gave us some rooms to choose from.

We worked as a group very well, each of us participated to make the day work. I had asked a friend of a friend if she could model for us from 11am to 3pm and we thought we could use two locations to do the shoot which was both indoor and outdoor. We had brought enough outfit for her to change to make the most of our day in the location.

But, unfortunately the model could only make it until 1pm. It didn’t give us enough time for her to change and do another shoot outdoor, thoughts running through my head … ‘we won’t have 4 pictures’ … ‘the image will look repetitive’ … ‘we’re going to waste this opportunity for being to shoot in a beautiful location’ … ‘Lewis is going to expect more from us!’ – I REALLY felt the pressure at that very moment.

I then asked every person in my contact list that I thought would be suitable for fashion. Every single one of them was either working or at college but, thankfully we know a girl that stays near the castle and who WAS also free – she also studied HND Photography in our college last year so we also had a good chat with her as we all have the same interest – she saved the day.

After another two hours, we were able to take some photographs of our second model outside the castle. We chose one at the stairs and by the fountain to get the whole castle behind the model.
