Need a hand with your bands?

For the past three weeks, we have been working with the students from the music industry during ‘Social’ class. This has benefitted both parties:

1. My classmates and I as HND students, who are required to produce 4 images to create a studio and a location montage.

2. The music students who needed their bands photographed for their album covers.

It has helped me greatly to complete my studio montage and I have really enjoyed taking photographs of a group of people.

I have managed to pose a group that has 3 members to begin with – my classmates as a start but it was a challenge when one of the bands with 7 members showed up. One or two people did not want their photo taken, some was too stiff in front of the camera and there was one who was just not having it.

Putting my montage together, I have only managed to get one decent photograph from the biggest group and two images of my classmates that had been dressed up as girl band … therefore, I only needed one more group photo to complete my montage.

Last Thursday on the 31st of October, Halloween!!!, a group of boy band came up for their photographs taken. I took the opportunity to try and get some photographs in order to complete my montage.

It came to a surprise that the group was easy to work with. It was meant to be four members in their band but one did not make it in that day. They were left with 3 people, which I thought it was perfect for what I was looking for.

Their confidence in front of the camera was terrific, they listened to me when I wanted them to do something and they were not afraid to act their own pose. Most of all, we all had a laugh and got the images we can use.

Here’s the great part… the photographs which I had my friends to dressed up as a band and the boy band from the music department, all of their outfit matched across the two bands! I didn’t get to arrange anything before they come up but I am so thrilled with the luck!

So I ended up using two images of my classmates and two images of the boy band to finish the montage neatly to promote myself as a band photographer.
